For several years, members of Vestal United Methodist have inquired about the possibility of electronic giving. The popularity of new payment methods, and a reduction in costs, means that electronic giving is easier to do and more important than ever to the financial health of our congregation. The Finance Committee has heard your requests, and are pleased to inform you that we are ready to move forward with electronic giving.
In an era when fewer people are writing checks, the electronic giving program will make it easy for members to contribute, and help us create a consistent flow of funding for our mission and ministry. The program we have selected offers virtually all forms of electronic giving including online, mobile, debit card, and credit card. You can have your contribution directly withdrawn from your checking or savings account by filling out a simple online form. Our regular system of envelope giving will still be available as well.
The Finance Committee has selected Vanco Payment Solutions to manage our program. Vanco has a fifteen year history with United Methodist Churches. They offer exceptional experience, lower fees than any area banks, and can interface with our church software. Today, Vanco is servicing over 3,000 United Methodist Churches, (700 in New York State) with a total customer base of 20,000 churches of varying denominations. Vanco is endorsed by the Finance and Administration Office of The United Methodist.
M&T Bank estimates that checks will be obsolete by 2025. This program will enable us to stay ahead of the ever-changing banking industry and prepare our finances for the future.
